Falcon School District 49 Vista Ridge Locker Room Addition

Completed:  September 2010

This project was a “Design Build” project consisting of the design and construction of a 6,548 square foot addition to Vista Ridge High School.  The Varsity Locker Room project included state of the art systems and high-quality finishes including lockers, mechanical, life safety, epoxy carpet tile flooring, auto-flush plumbing systems, Bobrick toilet partitions and accessories, precast exterior concrete walls, steel bar joists, interior CMU walls, EPDM roofing, and Corian counters.

Wells & West General Contractors, Inc. along with Bollar Cruz Architects, Monument Valley Engineers (MVE), HCDA, Systems Engineering, and Plant Engineering were all involved in the design process.  The complete design team worked with Falcon School District 49 to incorporate the needs of the district in the design.  Schematic drawings were presented to the school district and once reviewed and approved by the district, final drawings and engineering were presented to the State of Colorado for permitting.  The design team, including the school district, created a very high-quality addition that gave students a sense of pride.

Wells & West’s construction management included pre-construction planning, development of a comprehensive schedule, weekly construction meetings, coordination with Vista Ridge High School’s building manager, and maintaining quality control.

As always, safety is of the utmost importance.  A safety plan was implemented that included safety fencing to maintain paths of egress, employee background checks (including subcontractors’ employees), and ID badges worn at all times when on school property.  Wells & West’s Safety Director monitored all construction activities, held weekly safety meetings with our staff and subcontractors, and enforced OSHA and state regulations.
