Falcon School District 49 Exterior Wall Remediation
Completed: January 2010
This project consisted of exterior stucco, water-proofing, foundations, flashing, and elastomeric painting work on 10 schools. Extensive safety and fencing requirements were implemented to keep the students and staff safe. Project highlights include:
- Approximately 25 miles of metal lath were applied over existing CMU construction
- Over 100 lathers, stucco applicators, painters and sheet metal installers worked on 10 schools simultaneously
- If the amount of stucco applied was laid on the ground it would cover 5 acres
Wells & West General Contractors, Inc. was involved in the pre-construction planning, chaired weekly construction meetings, created and adhered to comprehensive schedules for each school, coordinated with each schools building manager and principle, and maintained quality control.
A safety plan was put in place for each school; including installation of fencing to maintain paths of egress, background checks were performed and all workers wore badges at all times when on school property, OSHA regulations were adhered to and Wells & West’s Safety Director monitored all construction activities including scaffold heights and safety requirements.
Our goal, as always, is the meet or exceed our customer’s expectations. During this project we were able to credit the school district over $30,000 in voluntary deducts and value engineering savings.
